I don't think so: I believe the "strawman" fallacy would be to suggest that people are advocating doing a thing (e.g constructing IN lists with 1000+ elements) when in fact they do not mean that at all. Here we clearly ARE talking about constructing such IN lists, so it is a real, not straw, man I am up against.

But I agree that my incredulity is not in itself an argument against it.
