You should think positive. Maybe they are thinking or replacing the DBA and eyeing you as a candidate. ;-)

BTW, parallel query option is called 'PARALLEL EXECUTION' in v$option.

so. It will do you and your career just good. Start with Concepts. And
then go and kick that dumbass DBA of yours' butt.
