Don't assume that when someone uses the word 'database' they mean physical file system as it is defined in Oracle. A person learning Oracle but whose background is in SQL Server, Sybase, or Informix means something entirely
different. Without requesting clarification you can cause them to make a huge mess from which they can not recover.
