Hi Folks:
I'm starting a job in a few weeks. Part of the duties is to write PL/SQL in addition to the Java coding. I'm experienced with Java and JDBC. I don't know PL/SQL but have a book. I know SQL and have worked in an Oracle environment. Just not with packages and such...
Is there such a thing as a "trial-trimmed" down version of Oracle that I might be able to load on my PC at home? Just enough for me to learn how to write some basic PL/SQL procedures?
I would like to create a simple test database with 1 or 2 test tables and then play around with it for 1-2 weeks...
Please let me know if a trial version is available *and* if a trial version of Toad or some other oracle DB-admin gui client is available...
Also, is there a web-site/help that shows how to create a simple database in Oracle and how to connect to the appropriate schema space? I don't need to know how to be a DBA. Just enough to create a small db and 1-2 tables so I can begin playing around with PL/SQL.
