Since NULL is different from 0, I would use 0 since it is a NUMBER field - Why use NULL ( which means undefined or indeterminate and can introduce some issues with certain aggregate functions). The space savings are minimal at best and usage will be more 'standard' if NUMBER columns actually contain Numbers.. Just my 2c...
