I've been a user sonce Delphi 1, and I was disgusted with Delphi's data access facilities early on. For a very long time I have been using CrLab's ODAC to talk toOracle with great success... (crlab.com if you want to take a peek). Anyway, I have never used DBExpress, so I cannot help with your specific issue. Sorry.
