I suspect that many people who hire SQL Server DBAs have been led to believe that SQL Server (along with some other Microsoft products?) are so advanced, reliable and secure that they really don't need any administration. Just need a super-whiz-bang-programmer-type who can go in and reboot the machine as required and do the upgrades.

I am led to believe this from some recent discussions and psuedo-interviews with potential clients. Not sure whether I should be amused or sad.

BTW - is MSSQL the same as Microsoft SQL Server???? I don't remember the name changing. Received on Tue Mar 25 2003 - 21:47:14 CST
