You didn't say what O/S or Oracle version you're using.

Did you create a System or User DSN? On Win2k, I was unable to connect using a System DSN, but as soon as I created it as a User DSN, it worked. I think it was because I don't log in as Administrator or some such MS weirdness. Of course, that was with MS Visio instead of Access, so YMMV.

If I'm not mistaken, ODBC doesn't even look at your tnsnames.ora file. So if you're able to connect thru sqlplus to gbv03p.world, then you need to use that (instead of the tnsnames alias) in your "server" entry. However, IIRC, ".world" was the convention used in Oracle7 (so you might want to comment it out in your sqlnet.ora file and cut it from your tnsnames.ora file).
