There is no problem on running two different Oracle Clients on one 
machine by using different ORACLE Home environments.



If you have just installed ORACLE Client 8.1.7 simply choose a different 
ORACLE_HOME and PATH for the ORACLE Client 9i installation. This is the 
first input that appears after starting the setup program.
