there was a note on the oracle-l list quite recently to the effect that the
9.2 documentation includes a note stating that collection of stats is now
supported, and someone pointed out that the data dictionary seemed to be
acquiring a bunch of HINTS, which would seem to support this patchset note.
However I cannot find said note by searching the docs, as I also can't find
a note saying you shouldn't do it, this probably suggests that the fault is
with my queries.
