That depends. Don't you just hate it when people say that? One advantage to Google Groups is that you can read/post without having an ISP. I haven't checked to see if they carry *all* the possible newsgroups, but I suspect they do. You are, of course, limited to the web interface they have designed.

If you have an ISP, then you have a few other options. Everyone has a favorite newsreader. I used to use Mozilla, but it's still a work in progress.

I happen to like the MicroPlanet Gravity Newsreader. It won a number of awards when it was a commercial product, but the company folded (not enuf customers). One of the ex-employees added yEnc (important in binary newsgroups) and released it as freeware under the name Super Gravity. It has a nice, clean interface that doesn't get in the way. And at home, I can download all those MP3 yEnc binaries ... heh heh.
