Hi All,

I've got a test bed I'm still setting up and almost have everything working as far as install and startup of 9i AS on Redhat 7.3 (with updated packages and Kernel) with the exception of one issue. The Webcache will not start. The Config Assistant failed so later I looked around and found the "webcachectl" command. Here is what i get when i try to start it:

[oracle_at_tomcat oracle]$ webcachectl start

Oracle9iAS Web Cache, Version 9.0.2.0.0
Copyright: Oracle Corporation, 1999-2001 Build CALYPSO_9.0.0_SOLARIS_020411
06/Feb/2003:17:45:21 -0800 -- Error: XML Parser initialization error. Error code 201
06/Feb/2003:17:45:21 -0800 -- Error: The server could not initialize 06/Feb/2003:17:45:21 -0800 -- Information: The server is exiting Admin Server failed to start

I looked at the make.log and there are no errors during the re-link, everything else is running just fine and I can get to the Enterprise Admin Web site with no problems. These are Oracle delivered CD's I'm installing from and I've tuned the kernel, I've got 1GB of memory, 4GB of swap, two 18GB SCSI LVD disks, on DUAL PIII/1.2Ghz machine. I've verified that the paths are correct for LD_LIBRARY_PATH, ORACLE_HOME, etc, and here is what I get if I manually run the xml from the prompt:

[oracle_at_tomcat oracle]$ xml -v

Oracle XML Parser version 9.0.1.2.0 Prod

I've also used xml -c to verify the .xml files in the webcache dir and they all check out OK.

So, now I'm turning to the Guru's to see if anyone can help this newbie finish this install. If I get my concept machine at least verifiable, then we'll invest in the certified OS's (RedHat or SuSE) and build a production machine. Could the OS still be the problem? This really looks like an internal Oracle problem but what do I know.

Thanks for any pointers, Roger A.
