Oracle, like nearly every other off-the-shelf software package has two choices when you install their software:

  1. They can ask a few questions and install the "typical" stuff.
  2. They can ask a zillion questions and install exactly what you'll use - nothing more, nothing less.

The first option is what most off-the-shelf packages use. And you end up with plenty of stuff that you don't need, and will probably never use. It's the option Oracle chooses. Received on Mon Jan 20 2003 - 15:36:11 CST
