Why yikes? Not unusual at all. It wasn't that long ago that a standard installation of Oracle RDBMS, Forms & Reports, Designer, and Discover would have had Oracle forcing separate homes.

The reason I asked WHY is because I don't see any problem provided ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME are correctly set.
