Simply Won't Install

Folks,

A rather unique and confounding problem. We recently purchased two new Dell Optiplex systems (identical configuration: Win2000, plenty of horse power, etc.). When trying to install the Oracle 8.1.7 Client, I get the splash screen, but when I click on Install/Deinstall Products, the whole installation app. goes away. It reacts the same on the other Dell we purchased. It's not a permission issue.

Of course I will call Dell if the time comes, but from my experience, they would push this off as an Oracle problem first.
