You responded in an elitist manner so I thought I'd return the favor.

You said SQL report writing is not really programming and advised that only DDL, DML, packages is "real" programming. YO Einstein, what in god's name do you think you used to type your glorious DDL and DML? SQL perhaps?

I've been using SQL since Oracle 6 and just installed the 9i client SR2 yesterday. AND, I've used SQL Navigator, TOAD, Discoverer, SQL*Reportwriter (?), Designer, Frog and probably a couple of others that I can't remember. Yet just last week I needed to write a basic SQL*Plus report because it was EASIER.  My point is don't slam something just because it's a mature product. Using that silly logic, why are you using a keyboard that hasn't changed siginificantly in almost 80 years?

Enjoy your sheltered life in the University because in the real world, it's...  kinda different out here. :)

Points for consideration: You may have written the most beautiful, Xtremely porgammed database on the planet, BUT if my CEO can't get a SQL paper report out of it for his silly quaterly report, it's useless. And unless you work for a software company, databases/applications are written to support some other business process, PERIOD.
