Can you define "hangs up"? Are you getting an error message? If so, what's the message?

Which ODBC driver are you trying to use? If you're using the latest version of the Oracle driver, you should have a "Test ODBC Connection" button when you create a DSN. What happens when you try to test your connection here?

Can you tnsping the tns name you're supplying to the ODBC driver?
