Hi Daniel,

again - thanks for your help!

What do you means with 'reinstall'? Reinstallation of Oracle with the Universal Installer is not possible because Oracle was never installed completely. I tried to start the Installer again after deleting all files and directories which have been created during the installation, i.e.

/opt/oracle/product
/opt/oracle/oraInventory
/var/opt/oracle/??? (was a file *.loc - don't know it exactly right now).

Are there any other (configuration) files which are created during the installation? I' m not sure but I think to remember that the Installer had a message box about 'where to install the oraInventory' which was never displayed since the first installation again. Where is this information stored?

You mean you run the script as user 'oracle'? Or you didn't use 'su' but did a login as 'root' to execute the script? I can't believe that this will make a difference, but UNIX is a miracle and I am rather desperate at the moment, so I will try it ;-)

Bye and thanks,
