Talk with your hardware vendors - server and storage.

Most likely, you are going to use a storage system other than attached SCSI.
That storage vendor should have some test cases with which to give you a baseline with which to compare.

If you're a Compaq/HP shop - they have several proof-of-concept centers available where you should be able to test a similar configuration. If not, talk with the sales dept and get the issue escalated to Technical Sales Support.

Currently, memory is limited to 3 GB for the oracle.exe process (with 4GT, Advanced Server)
You can also cache blocks in memory above 4 GB with PAE, but it comes with increased overhead. If you do not anticipate needing larger than 3 GB of memory total, you may get by running on W2K Server.

If your storage system is cross-platform - you could always nuke the MS OS and use a supported version of Linux (RH Enterprise, SuSE Enterprise).
