There is no need to purchase anything assuming you are correctly license. The database CD contains the Oracle client software and it can be installed without installing the database. If that does not work purchase an Oracle demo pack for $39.95 US from http://store.oracle.com and just install the client.

Oracle really doesn't care where you get the Oracle Client software. Only that you are licensed so that Larry can afford to put gas in his car next week and get to work.
