FWIW, I have successfully installed Oracle9i on RedHat 7.2. There is a problem. The binutils package that comes with RedHat 7.2 doesn't work with 9i's OUI. I found the following URL to be most helpful in getting 'round this:
  http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.html

also, like a previous poster, I did NOT request the OUI to create or install any databases. don't know if this makes a difference or not.
