Hi guys!

    I just installed Windows 2000 on my computer, along with Oracle 8i Enterprise, version 8.1.7. Sometimes (about 1 out of 8) when I go to shutdown the database via the command prompt OR in SQL*Plus, Oracle just hangs! My task manager shows 100% cpu usage, but shows that I still have roughly HALF my RAM still available. Here's my pertinent system specs:

AMD Athlon 1700+ cpu
256Megs DDR RAM
ECS K7AMA Mobo
1 - 20Gig 7400rpm HD
1 - 20Gig 5400rpm HD

This is exactly what I get when I go to shutdown: "SVRMGR> shutdown immediate;
Database closed.
Database dismounted."

BUT, insted of returning me to the svrmgr> prompt, I does NOTHING! ...Until I press control-C, returning me to the C:\> prompt, of course. Any fixes for this, or suggestions as to what the problem is?

Thanks! Received on Mon Mar 18 2002 - 00:43:06 CST
