Scanning trace logs

Hi,

I am trying to write a program that scans the various oracle trace logs that is generated. Apart from the alertlog file what other files should be checked (and what should be picked up on). I have checked through various oracle web sites and couldn't see anything but if there is a site that deals/lists this information then feel free to direct me to it. Thanks.
