ORACLE Client tools on a W2k client

I tried installing the ORACLE 8.1 clienttools on a newly setup W2k client. When I insert the CD the startup screen appears and offer me installation, browse the cd and so on. When I select the menu "Installation", the startup screen disappears and nothing happens! There is no error message and no entry in the NT eventlog.
Reinstalling NT SP2 doesn't help and: we have this effect just on one PC! Does anybody out there have an idea?
