I'm having trouble getting the Oracle 8.1.7 client to install. I have the
Oracle server running on a seprate Linux server, and it's working fine.
However, I'm having trouble setting up the client on that machine as well as
another machine. I have successfully installed the client for Windows, and
can connect to the remote Linux Oracle server. I would like to run a web
server on an old computer I found laying around to help in preperation for
the Oracle exams. I have PHP and Apache installed on it, and I'm trying to
install the Oracle client. I get some strange errors when it starts linking
during install, and then complaints about missing libraries after
installation finishes. The system is a Pentium 75 with 88MB RAM. I
understand it's more of a joke than anything to use this computer, but it's
the best I can do right now.
I'm just curious to see if anybody else has had trouble installing just the Oracle client. I did not have any problems when I installed the server and client together. I'm wondering if it's the pathetic system, or just a problem with the install.
Thanks in advance for any help,
