Install Problem: Client 8.1.7 on Win2K Prof. (P3 !!)

Trying to install the 8.1.7 client from the Oracle 8i Client CD.

I select "Application User", get the Summary, then it starts copying, which goes up to 100%, then the installer disappears with no message.

Afterwards, the installer finds NO installed products.

Tried the setup.exe from the \win32 directory, same result.

The machine is a Compaq Armada with Pentium 3, 128 MB, Windows 2000, SP2.

Any hints ? Is there on the Web another client, which works ?
