Yes, sure.
I recommend to use 8.1.7 or 9i.

If you want to load documents you have to use BLOBS, because the documents are in a binary format.
Also you have to use the INSO filter to generating text out of the documents.

Have a look at technet.oracle.com -> products -> oracle text for documentation and samples.
