Moving data from 8.1.7 to 8.1.6

I need to move some data from an 8.1.7 database into an 8.1.6 database.  I
exported the data with exp into a file but the 8.1.6 imp refuses to import
it.  Can I import into 8.1.6 with the 8.1.7 imp, or export from 8.1.7 with
the 8.1.6 exp?  Or is there another way to accomplish this?
