Oracle can create temporary tables to hold
session-private data that exists for the duration
of a transaction or session.
Example:
CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE today_sales
ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS
AS SELECT * FROM orders WHERE order_date = SYSDATE;
