Hi,
Yes you can...in fact, that's precisely the normal procedure so you can do
that with no ill effects on
logging or anything else..
You should "trim" the log periodically to keep it a manageable size...some
in this group may suggest keeping copies of it offline, but my opinion is
that you needn't bother if your database is running smoothly..Incidentally,
even if you delete the alert log totally, Oracle will recreate it and
continue writing to it...
