Hi,

I'd installed Oracle 8.1.7 database on W2K and had given a sid.It was working fine.
But later i encountered some problems and had to uninstall it. While installing it again,I was prompted for a sid.I'd tried to give the same sid which i'd given earlier but i'm getting a message saying that the sid already exists and have to give a different one. Though I unistalled everything earlier why is the sid not removed? anyway I want to use the same sid.

Once i had the same problem and I removed all the info regarding the sid name from the registry.
I had problems with it then had to re-install the O/S.

Please help me out with this.

Thanks
