Since you're new to the planet of Oracle, I strongly suggest you go with 8i at this time. 9i is just way too new for your purpose.

I mean whatever you want to learn about Oracle, there is PLENTY of that in 8i. It's mature, well documented, has good and wide knowledge base. And it's been field-proven on the NT/Win2k platform. And it's going to be around for a while. My guess is if you ask a question about 9i now, it's either that you're unlikely
to get an answer or you're likely to get a wrong/bad one. There's a reason that cadets of first-class naval academies are required to learn the ropes and seamanship on old-fashioned sailing vessels. jane
