Hey Martin,

Oracle's tool to do all of these things is called Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). OEM is a GUI, that uses an agent process on the server for monitoring and sending traps to your SNMP agent. It can also be configured to e-mail and page administrators if an alert condition is detected.

In addition to monitoring, OEM can also be used to manage your database..create users and profiles, add/modify tablespaces and datafiles, start and stop databases, perform scheduled backups, etc...
