Thanks for the reply. I will try that but I copied the SQL from the
record group to sqlplus and ran it on both machines. The speed is
identical.


I read in Froms help that populate_group fetchs 100 rows at a time,
might this be the reason, I mean it can be something related to the
UNIX OS configuration.
