Hi aK,
This is a well known problem (unfortunately) due to Symantec's symcjit.dll problem on Pentium 4.
The solution is to hide this dll when running the Oracle Universal installer
since it is not vital for the installer to complete its tasks :
- make a copy of the Oracle CD in a temporary directory,
- rename all copies of symcjit.dll in this temporary directory to
symcjit.dll.old or any name you like,
- run the installer from this temporary directory.
If you have access to Metalink, a copy of installer is also available for download as an alternative.
