Exp 8.1.7 and Imp 8.1.6... any chance?

I have a database dump created by Exp 8.1.7, unfortunately, I have only a 8.1.6 version (don't ask: you don't want to know...)

Now, seems that the two version are quite incompatible...

I thought that only Microsoft was so stupid to change the backup binary format from one version to another of their databases...

Anyway... there is a way to have that dump imported with 8.1.6, or I have to surrender and update the database ?

Don't tell me to use Imp 8.1.7 or Exp 8.1.6 on the other machine: one is NT and the other is Linux...
