Sept 20, 2001, San Francisco - In a move aimed at delivering Enterprise Class Support for Oracle Databases on the SuSE Linux platform, President Mark Jumaga announced today Fastcenter has released a new managed service and product sales website.

was certified on Linux before NT/2000, showing the confidence Oracle has in

According to Jumaga, Linux has many more truly dedicated members of the database community than it's closest class competitor, Windows 2000. "A quick look at the Oracle support discussion forum reveals 17,000 Linux discussion postings, more even than the XML forum with 15,000. In fact, the only discussion board with more postings than the Linux forum is the Java forum with 23,000. With Oracle 9.0.1 database certified for SuSE Linux 2.4.4 kernel we are prepared to finally deliver a rock solid Unix database platform to the data processing community, with guaranteed service levels, at PC hardware prices."
Fastcenter hardware and software sales last year were 50% better than the year before, with most of those sales in the Solaris on Intel marketplace for servers such as in use at Excite, Lucent, Intuit and Valuestar Certified.

performance statistics for Oracle on SuSE against NT2000 and similarly priced
Sun hardware. These statistics are going to prove that the Linux 2.4.4 kernel
with a tuned Oracle database is going to be a very serious competitor for the
data processing dollar."
