While I generally agree with you, I think that a good number just don't know, or think about, what other resources are available to them to help themselves - so a gentle reminder to 'read the online docs' or 'go to OTN at www.oracle.com and search for xyz' would help them and many others to fend for themselves. Something about teaching a person to fish, rather than giving them a fish.

BTW, the Oracle doc tools are really lacking. The search feature in 8i is tempermental and about 1 in 3 or 4 times I end up rebooting because it froze during use. And there isn't a nice way to go directly to a book, so I end up doing a search and then clicking the various hits and then switching to the browser to there do a find on what I want. It is as bad as PL/SQL debugging aids in my book.
