Hi Dirk,



you can connect with SQL*Net V2 to Oracle Server v7 as well as to Oracle Server
v8 as with Net8 to Oracle Server v7. Some features introduced with Net8 can not
be used of course. 


I would configure a  ODBC V8 datasource to substitute the V7 data source. Or
better let the vendor do this, since SQL*Net V2 is out of service (This is your
argument to get this for free!).
