PL/SQL: Update makes ORA-3114

Hi,

I am updating a table (with an mdsys.sdo:geometry object) within PL/SQL and get an ORA 3114 End-of_communication-channel straight away.

sometimes it works, but mostly it crashes. the db (ora 8.1.6 ee) is ok as far as i can say.
seems that i am doing something wrong in my plsql, but no guess what so ever.
the cursors used are FOR UPDATE and no speciallities in the code.

any comments?
