All,
Just over a month ago, BMC Software, Inc. launched WebDBA for free. Now they're at it again with a free version of their well known Development Tools SQL Programmer (you can read a review of the IX version when it was still Sylvain Faust's product at http://www.oracle-home.com/cgi-bin/reviews/jump.cgi?ID=5).
Here's the press release from BMC:
"SQL-Programmer Free encourages programmer productivity and accuracy
while ensuring high-quality e-commerce and Internet applications.
Generally available now, SQL-Programmer Free provides a consistent
interface and development environment for cross platform programming
on Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and DB2 UDB."
About the reasons behind giving away these great products:
"BMC Software is offering these free products as part of its
commitment to assuring database availability. Web DBA Free enables
continuous availability of data by giving DBAs instant and remote
access to maintain their databases wherever there is an Internet
connection. SQL-Programmer Free provides an integrated development
environment designed to assist database application developers with
the construction and maintenance of server-side SQL code, such as
stored procedures, functions and triggers for DB2 UDB, Oracle,
Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase. Web DBA Free and SQL-Programmer Free
further round out BMC Software's distributed database management
offerings and support BMC Software's infrastructure management
initiatives to assure business availability."
Whatever the reason, it's real 'no-nag' software, it's really free and it's great software!
Come and take a look at it at http://downloads.oracle-home.com.
