Hey;

Chapter 1 of the Oracle DBA 101 book (ISBN: 0-07-212120-3) has a pretty good, if addmittedly somewhat generic, description of what a dba is and does. Even that, though, is some 26 pages long. Your question is equally as meaningful as "What's a system admin?" If anyone can answer either question succinctly, they're either very wrong or very rich.
