The workstations are identical, having 128 Mb ram and a PIII 866 MHz CPU. The database is running on a NT 4.0 server, which also works as a PDC for approxemately 70 users. Note only 10 are using the Oracle database. The server config is 512 Mb ram, Dual PIII 866 MHz Xeon CPU, 6 * 9,1 GB SCSI 10000 rpm harddrives in one RAID 1,0.
The Server is a Dell PowerEdge 4400.
With dataspeed I mean time to login, data retrieval and write data to the database. When getting data it can take up to 3-5 seconds on the win98, but on the NT 4.0 it takes maks. 1 second.
Even on my laptop, which is a Dell Inspiron 5000e, 256 Mb ram, PIII 750 MHz CPU and a Xircom Realport 2 NIC running Win ME it takes ages...

Note I did have problems migrating the Access2000 database to Oracle. That is not possible, so I did it via MS SQL.

Is that enough information?
