There is an article on TechNet that discusses this issue thoroughly. The
condensed version is to use the export from the lowest version and it will
work. I have had to deal with this several times recently and it will work
to export using 8.1.5. In other words, find a PC to install (if you don't
have one already) the 8.1.5 client on, export from your 8.1.6 database, the
import into the 8.1.5 database. Trying to copy just the import/export
executables leads to copying virtually every oracle dll also. Not
recommended.
