TYI : with Personal Oracle , in a stand-alone machine with only one user, you do NOT need Listener, only the main Oracle db service. In my personal machine, I have the following in the TNSNAMES.ORA :

PROD is my production database, installed in my AIX prod server (acessible by sql*net), and PO8IR3 is my local Personal 8ir3 database, acessible locally using BEQ-Local protocol (no listener needed; in the machine, the LISTSNER service is DOWN, saving me precious RAM. With this config, I can access the database using sql*plus and Developer 6i, and in the same machine I have PO7 installed whit the regedit key PO7YES, so I can access Personal7, just leaving blank the host-string OF COURSE, if you need OEM, HTTP server and other goodies, then you WILL need others services and listener.
