Oracle8i linux Installer problem

I am trting to install Oracle 8i (8.1.7) on a Red Had 6.2 Server and keep getting an error when starting the runInstaller script. The error is as follows:

I've ried glib-c patches and installed the jre stuff as per the install doc.

Does any one have a solution to this?
