TNS Error

Hi All,

I have recieved a trialware kit for Oracle8i Lite v4.0.0.2.0 for evaluation purposes.
This has been installed onto a stand alone PC running win2000. My problem is that when I run SQL Plus 8.0 and logon as username: SCOTT and password: TIGER, I get an error message ORA-12203: TNS: Unable to connect to
destination. I believe that as the installation is local I do not need a host string.

Could anybody help with a resolution to this error so I can experiment with the default
tables ie emp, dept, salgrade etc.
