Hi,

I am an Windows-NT admistrator and not an Oracle expert. We have a NT Oracle server 8.0.5., and when I do a tnsping .. 1000 the time varies van 10-30ms. No problem.
Our company databases are on powerfull Unix servers 8.1.6. When I do a tnsping to a database on Unix it gives a lot of 10ms's, but after some pings, is stops for a while, times are then 20000ms or even a timeout. Is this a serious problem ? One of the DBA's says that it is probebly a bufferoverrun of Oracle and not the indication of a problem. Strangly enough the tnsping to the NT-oracle-server doesn't have this problem.

I would appreciate any help. (please by email to : g.c.ensing_at_castel.nl)

Thanking you in advance for your help,
