Well, that's the tricky part. Reason I'm even at this point is because I tried to install Oracle 8.1.6 on Redhat Linux 7.0. Apparantly this distribution has a newer version of glibc that Oracle's installer is incompatible with. So the install died during the part where it creates the default database. I go into the Oradata/Oralin folder (oralin being my SID) and I can see a bunch of .dbf files. Not sure if this means I have a valid database created or not. Any way to tell?
