Easy Sybrand, 'Do Not use' is pretty broad...In the Netware 4.xx environment, for instance, if the tnsnames.ora file on the server uses DNS-type names for the servers, all db links will fail unless you load additional TCP/IP stuff - Netware does not do DNS lookup very well - which I don't like to do on an Oracle dedicated server..on these servers, the IP address needs to be specified in standard dot notation...
